Initiatives

The Green Initiative

The core principle, that we all are one – that we all are connected as children of Mother Earth, lies at the very heart of the Nanak Bagh Foundation. This has been the driving force behind our Green Initiative. Over 2000 trees and saplings have already been planted at Nanak Bagh and there is still a long way to go.
Drives for cleaning the Jayanti Majari river bed with help from volunteers and local community provide an excellent opportunity to spread awareness about the urgent need to reduce our carbon footprints as well as knowledge of practical measures that can be taken at individual as well as community levels to do so.

Enhancing lives

We see the community in villages around Nanak Bagh as belonging to the Nanak Bagh family. With this sentiment in mind, the Nanak Bagh Foundation is constantly engaged in programmes to enhance the quality of life in the community. Besides the Educational and Green initiatives our engagement with the people of the vicinity is multipronged including organising medical camps, spreading awareness about health and hygiene, creating projects for empowerment of women in the community, organising langars (communal free kitchens), conducting kirtans and holding Satsangs (interaction with those focused on spiritual enhancement).

Journey to the Self

Envisioned as a place for intense bhakti (place for intense spiritual endeavour) Nanak Bagh is what many walking of the spiritual path would call, home. Being blessed by Guruji and many other highly evolved spiritual beings, and the live presence of Inder makes Nanak Bagh a truly transformative environment. Satsangs, meditations, interactions with Inder and Gurmanjot, programmes for connecting with Mother Earth and her children provide the perfect setting to practice the AAAAM programme.

Inder says the AAAAM (Awareness – Acknowledgement – Acceptance - Action – Meditation) programme is the most effective practice for spiritual growth. The only parameter to gauge one’s progress on the spiritual path is the palpable change that one experiences in one’s regular secular life. AAAAM- an intense practice, requires us to identify and come into awareness of the core programming that it driving us and creating our outer world. With this awareness, one needs to acknowledge that our world, with all its pleasures, miseries and sufferings, is our own creation. We need to take onus – accept it without trying to run away from it by blaming others or numbing ourselves. This onus taking empowers us with the knowledge that it through our actions that we can bring about transformation in our core programming and there by transform our life. The source of the energy and the will to bring about this transformation is the Universe itself and must be tapped into through a regular meditation practice.

Education

With Gurmanjot’s background in education, particularly with special children, Nanak Bagh emerging as a centre for providing functional education to children and youth of the vicinity, is but natural.

The Nanak Bagh Initiative – a volunteer based project has a mandate to provide developmental assistance to children and youth in a multi pronged manner:

Funds for running the project come as voluntary contributions in form of monthly monetary aid, commitment of time and/or donation of required resource materials.
